This morning after breakfast, which included apple torte (for dogs) instead of the traditional New Years whole apple, I let the Harriers into the garden to explore, graze, and sun...while I scooped. Drummer came immediately when called out, but no Mosie. I spotted her at the bottom fence and gave a stern here. She came willingly, but not speedily. Closer, and a slight case of chipmunk cheeks revealed she was packing. I asked her what she had; she looked up; and I got a glimpse of a large, frozen solid, but fairly ripe, tomato. She had gone harvesting in the still standing vines. As is appropriate, a Harrier started my New Year off with laughter. She is currently ensconced in a doghouse, butt blocking the door, gnawing away on her prize, in 31° weather. You gotta love those hounds.
