This morning as we were preparing to open presents, our daughter - TopicsExpress

This morning as we were preparing to open presents, our daughter (Sarah - age 10&1/2) pulled out a sheet of paper and laid it face down in front of me. She said dont turn it over and read it until Mom comes in the room - in all the excitement that followed...we forgot. Betsy is now at work and I was cleaning up the living room when I came upon the unread sheet. I read it and openly wept. She said I could share it..so here it is: Mother, Father, The definition of gift is giving something without expecting something in return. When I think of the word gift, I think of the both of you. Both of you have done so much for me. I dont see you, Mother that often, but you are still there for me. You too, of course, Dad. You both keep me safe and healthy. You make sure I am happy all the time. I appreciate that, obviously. I wouldnt be myself if it wasnt for you. If I was in trouble you would risk yourself to save me. You teach me many different things. I learn so much in one day just because of you. I think that if you didnt work in a parking lot or a psych nurse (I hope I spelled that right) youd both be teachers. Really. I learn a different thing every day because of the both of you. That makes me a better, smarter person. Thank you so much for everything you have done for me. Youre both my gifts. You have done so much just to let me learn, live, and be happy. Of course I appreciate that. Never forget how much I love you. Also, Merry Halloween. Sarah.
