This morning during church services we were given a type of “challenge” by our Pastor . He asked for those of us who are on Facebook to tell a short story of one thing that God has done in our lives that we knew for certain it was He that had done it. The reason being (and this makes sense) is that we all hear testimonies inside our churches; we share our stories, our blessings and our excitement with our church families. But, how often do we share those same stories outside the church walls? I am taking this challenge a bit further by challenging three friends of mine here on Facebook to do the same. Here is my story. It was many years ago before my children were born and I had run away from home. By all intents and purposes I was a gypsy, laying my head wherever I could find a spot, yes, sometimes on bus benches, in the park and under bridges, I was homeless. There were times that kind people would take me in for a few days and I would befriend them. It was with one of these friends that I grew fond of when tragedy struck my life and forever changed my outlook on mankind. My friend and I were riding around in her car one night; we stopped at a red light when out of nowhere we were bombarded by a gang of kids. They jumped in the car, sped off to a nearby park and kept us there for well over eight hours with guns pointed at our heads. I cannot say for certain what time it was but I do remember a loud sound of gunfire and it was then I realized that they had killed my friend. I thought for sure I would be next. It was at that point I started to softly sing through my tears….Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me, I once was lost, but now I’m found, was blind but now I see. I sang this over and over and over again. From what seemed to be an eternity suddenly a burst of flames roared up, they had set her car on fire. They all began to run, within seconds I was there alone, in shock, in the middle of the night not really knowing where I was, I too began to run, still singing this wonderful song. I know it was by the Grace of God that my life was spared. I felt His presence there calming me, assuring me that all would be ok. I could have taken this experience and made something truly horrible of my life with it, I chose not to, instead I praise God that I was spared and promised from that day forward that I would ALWAYS trust Him and give Him all my situations. At times yes, it’s hard but when I do my loving Savior never fails, He is ALWAYS by my side. Have you got a story to tell? I encourage you to share it, get the GOOD NEWS OUT about the miracles that God has worked in your life! Have a blessed and wonderful day! I now challenge Janet Alfred, Susan Sponaugle and Judy Voss I am also tagging Steve Noel so he knows I did it LOL :-)
