This morning, during my first session I found my mind wondering from Hmm-- my big toe feels kind of achy, to I wonder if I have any trades banked... I could use a massage, to Oh, what is that? Is that my phone? No. My client must have tucked theirs under the table. See the silliness that can happen in a outwardly quiet mind? So, I quickly realized I needed to reel things in, in order for my client to have the best experience, and the fastest way for me, was to begin counting my breath. After a few cycles, I realized Ive slowed my breath to 3 1/2 inhale/exhales per minute, and ah-- hey Coreworks Fitness and Pilates friends-- do you KNOW what this means? Thats right... When I say three more breaths, it means youve got a minute left! Ok, so clearly I am a work in progress, but arent we all? Give it a try sometime. Close your eyes, and count your inhales & exhales. See how slow you can breath comfortably. No meditation, no prayer, just the power of breath. Namaste.
