This morning, our school shut down with permission from the district office because the power generator has been down for 2 days & attempts at restarting it have failed. Imagine students in shirts & ties trying to concentrate stuffy classrooms, imagine fan-less afternoons against the El Nino heat, students & teachers drinking boiled river water, bathing & washing in the river, all the meat in your freezer melting & going bad, cooking rice on the stove, pitch black nights & no internet. But... At night, the sky is filled with millions of shining like diamonds & nebulas look like glowing clouds. Something which has always been there but would have never be seen if not for the unfortunate circumstance. Also, teachers banded together to share food & resources. LATEST NEWS:: A team of mechanics came in the morning with spare parts and managed to get the generator up & running by afternoon. Thank you for your prayers!! Also, thanks to the mechanics as well as the school staff & principal for their hard work in restoring the generator! By now, students & teachers alike are enjoying the early Raya break which will have to be replaced later in the year. Maaf Zahir Batin, everyone!!!
