This morning, the Hershey Fire Department along with mutual aid companies were dispatched to the 800-Blk of Stauffers Church Road, when another alert passerby noticed smoke billowing from the house. The Police Department along with FD arrived on the scene and found a working house fire. Firemen quickly entered the building, and after a well-organized interior attack, were able to put a quick knock to the fire. The home was not a total loss thanks to the passerby as well as quick work by the Fire Department. After investigation it was determined the fire started in the kitchen, although the exact reason is still under investigation. Quick trivia: It has been almost one full year since Derry Township has had a major fire resulting in significant property loss.
