This morning, we took Evan up to Saint Francis University (my alma mater) to see their Sensitive Santa. We had visited there last year and loved it so we returned this year. For those of you who dont know, a Sensitive Santa is a personal Santa experience that makes it a lot more successful for a child with special needs. The child and family visits with Santa in a private room, so a lot less distraction. Beforehand, they have a beard, hat, suspenders, and such out for the children to touch and play with to help prepare them to meet Santa. The part we like the most is how they schedule appointments so there arent too many people there at one time and we were the only ones in the room with Santa and his helper. The Santa at the mall has way too many distractions for Evan, causing him stress, and making him a lot less likely to enjoy his visit with Santa. It also helps that the Santa obviously works with children with all types of special needs because he knows exactly how to go about getting a child involved and interested. Evan was rather engaged with Santa and was quite curious about his beard! He kept trying to eat it! Hahaha! Anyway, he had a wonderful time, in spite of falling asleep for just a few minutes as we got there. It caused a few pouty lips, tears, and grumpies, but he came around! Have a great evening!
