This mornings 7:30 am update from CalFire: 7,100 acres burned, 30 percent contained; 11 injuries, 1,950 personnel: initial reports on FB re: most of these being serious injuries appear to be unfounded, thankfully, although there might be 1 serious, not life-threatening, injury. Evacuation orders as posted last night. Community Meetings today at 1 pm in Leggett at the Leggett Valley School, and at 5 pm in Laytonville, at Hardwood Hall. Injuries: 11 Cause: Lightning Cooperating Agencies: Bureau of Land Management, Laytonville Fire Department, Mendocino County Sherriff’s Office, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, California National Guard, California Conservation Corps, and CAL OES. The fire crossed the Eel River in two areas and continues to grow to the east. Structure defense preparation continues near populated areas and firefighting personnel continue to make progress constructing fire line across the northern and southern boundaries of the fire.
