This mornings column in the The News-Herald and The Morning Journal: Hoyer was RIGHT to be mad. Or was he? Here are two emails I received this morning when the paper was published: Bob, You are spot on in todays article concerning Hoyers justifiable reaction to the Manziel package. Not only does it piss off Hoyer, but it makes no good football sense. I believe in the good football sense demonstrated by Pettin, and I believe Shanahan has the kind of pedigree that makes the likelihood that this is his idea somewhat remote. That leaves only one person behind the strategy. Haslam. Especially in light of his own questionable business decisions, it can only be hoped that he will eventually put trust in the people he has hired to make this team a winner, but I doubt it. He seems to belong to the some mid-level functionary in Cincinnati did it school of executive accountability. I hope Im wrong. Meanwhile, everyone I know believed the timing of the Manziel appearance Sunday, was a real head scratcher. I can only hope that the ballsy sports/news commentators in Cleveland ( hint, hint) will not shy away from future observations along these lines. Bob D. ______________ Real pros keep their mouth shut and follow their coaches. Coaches hate players that think they know more than they do and openly complain about it. Suggest you stop stirring the waters and let coaches do their thing! Jim Bay ______________ So....whos right?
