This mornings run was a good one for the youngsters from Wakefield & District Harriers with 5 of the first 10 finishers coming from their ranks. Jack Mitchell was first male home in 16min 44sec, followed by clubmate Ben Read and an unknown runner. Lucy Robinson ran a new PB at Pontefract to lead the ladies home in 19min 36 sec, with Nicola Bettis and India Elliott second and third lady across the line. Its brilliant to see such good running from the junior section of one of our local clubs, well done to all involved. We had a much bigger turnout this morning now that the holiday season is over. There were 199 finishers, with Tail Runner Joanne Conroy completing her 99th run (96 of those being completed at Pontefract.) 25 runners ran our course for the first time and we saw 26 brand new PBs. Christine McCarthy was the highest age grade runner with an impressive 80.15% Thomas Broom joined the 10 club today, congratulations Thomas! Did you notice the 250 run shirt in our midst today? Its not often we see those. We did however have 10 x 100 shirts, 24 x 50 shirts and 9 x 10 shirts running. Many thanks to our volunteer team today, including the one that chased down the errant tokens whilst we all ran :-), it certainly makes result processing easier if we have token to scan at the end of the run!!! For the record, our course records are :- Male - 15mins 46sec Female - 17mins 18sec Just in case you fancy having a go next week! See you all at 9am for run number 171. DFYB
