This mural was painted over 3 days (!!) a couple of weeks ago in The port. It has created a lot of discussion, mainly why a croc. My question though is why no community consultation? EVERY mural Ive done, and thats over 100, has been created after discussion with community. Usually its part of the terms of getting a grant. Ive dreamt of being able to just draw something beautiful and paint it- a design that isnt about healthy eating or 100 years of transport or whatever. Its great to see artwork finally appearing in the port, so long overdue, however does this mean other artists will be commissioned to paint their own designs too, whatever they may be? - I hope so. PS I wonder if that artist/s was chosen cos they could paint that big wall in 3 days = cheaper budget??
