I hear you, but we are part of a system of institutional racism in this country that is based on the myth that whites are somehow superior. That is the BS I am referring to. It is so engrained in our daily lives that all whites benefit from an unjust system. White privilege is embedded in the workings of all of our social and economic organizations in this country. It is so easily taken for granted that we benefit from the racist system without even giving it much thought. In that respect it is difficult for even those of us whites who are allies to always recognize racism at work. Many whites feel that they are sensitive to racism and will call it out when they see it. They are loving and caring people by nature. There is little hope to change the hearts of blatant racists. There is hope, however when more and more white people take a stand and recognize that white privilege destroys lives of other races. We must stand up against the racist system. That is why I feel this protest of White BS is a good and necessary event to occur!
