This news out of the North Side is incredibly sad. A 23-year-old woman, 8.5 months pregnant, was hit & killed by a man driving this minivan. Police say she was standing outside of the Rite Aid on Pennsylvania Ave with her back against the wall. An 88-year-old man driving the minivan was pulling out of this parking spot when he allegedly hit the gas instead of the brake, jumping the curb and pinning the pregnant woman against the wall. Police say he appeared confused and disoriented. The woman was taken to AGH. She passed away and doctors delivered her baby. The newborn is now at Childrens hospital in stable but critical condition. Police questioned the driver & his wife, but he just left police headquarters and was not in custody. We are told theyre investigating to see if this is a true accident.
