The news article in the above link contains a grave admission by the medical professionals trying to slow down the spread of the disease, that the situation is ALREADY out of control. The most terrifying Horsemen of the Apocalypse by far would be the one that kills not by violence or famine, but by a terminal illness whose symptoms come straight out of a Gothic horror movie - with blood gushing out of every orifice on the human body until total systemic collapse occurs, after which the dead victim remains EXTREMELY dangerous as a further disease vector to the living. Even though the Nigerian government has its hands full dealing with the terror threat in its northern reaches, the Ebola virus MUST be recognized by the Goodluck Jonathan administration as a FAR GREATER threat to the existence of the Nigerian nation than is posed even by the dreaded Boko Haram terror gang. Practical steps that can be implemented IMMEDIATELY are a TOTAL exclusion from Nigeria of ALL travelers originating from the 3 West African nations whose populations are already infected and dying from the Ebola virus. Direct flights to and from Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone must be STOPPED IMMEDIATELY so as to reduce the chances of infected passengers spreading the Ebola virus in the cabins of aircraft heading towards Nigeria. Customs and immigration officers posted to ALL Nigerias land, sea and air borders must be trained to spot the symptoms of Ebola infection, so that any and all individuals arriving into Nigeria that MAY be infected can either be sent back to their points of departure immediately, or INVOLUNTARILY quarantined until their state of health can be clinically ascertained. The spread of the Ebola virus represents one of the most potentially devastating blows ever to be dealt the human race since the dawn of time. The simple fact that there is NO KNOWN CURE for Ebola, when viewed in context of the rapid and widespread mobility of populations in the jet age, means that this 100% fatal disease has the potential to decimate ALL human life on planet Earth, one continent at a time, in a ripple effect spreading inexorably outwards from Africa to the rest of the world. Drastic situations call for drastic and desperate measures, and the Nigerian government MUST step up to the plate and do ALL that it takes to safeguard her 200 million souls from the horrific and nightmarish fate that has already befallen 330 West African victims in countries that are dangerously close to Nigeria. Equally, the West must expedite the search for a cure or at least a treatment for the Ebola virus infection, so that it does not gain a foothold that could enable it to spread in geometric fashion to ALL corners of the Earth, at which point it could assume the potential to cause a mass extinction of human life in all but the most inaccessible and remote reaches of the planet.
