This officer was disciplined for being too aggressive in the weeks preceding this murder. Some pages on Facebook are trying to make the argument that cops have to always be aggressive or they will be killed. This is how comply or die and I have to do whatever it takes to get home at night come from. This is a false narrative. (I am going to assume for argument sake that the car stop was justified and legal.) As soon as he went and got the gun from the car the officer should have dropped him. There is no ambiguity when someone goes to their car and gets a gun what their intentions are. I dont think anyone here would think the officer was out of line had he fired once the gun was retrieved from his car. That is self defense. I actually remember this case and when they asked him why he killed the officer, he said because he let me. And sadly that is exactly what happened. There are times to be aggressive and times not to be. Cops dont have to treat everyone as the enemy, but I see no ambiguity here.
