This one got me quite excited when I found it in the collection, as I believe it to be quite a rare shot. I sent this over to the groups Steve Burden last night to bash some ideas around and we are confident that this photograph shows a military lookout at Yaverland, on the site of what is now the Yaverland Sailing Club. You can see in the lookout tower there appears to be guns facing out to see and a nearby shelter/store of some sort. The helicopter in the shot is a Royal Navy Dragonfly, most likely based at Gosport and was in service sometime between 1953 and the mid 60s, however I would say this is most likely nearer 53. Maps show some kind of lookout tower in the area, but Ive never seen any photographs of what was there.
