This one may just bring a tear to you eye! Hello All of you Angels! I have owed you this email since Woofstock this summer. I spoke with one of you that day regarding the best Christmas present we ever got ourselves, our beloved Ginger. Initially, we were just thinking about fostering a dog. It broke our hearts to look at all those furry faces on your site, knowing that they did not have a forever home. My kids and I spoke about fostering, just to give a fur friend a special Christmas and a home for the holidays. I think all of us knew when we were talking, we would never be able to send the sweet face back! It didnt take long for a unanimous yes to begin the process of bringing another fur friend into our home. I have to say, even though I was sick for that Christmas, it was the best one we have had in a long time. It took a few weeks for Ginger and our other dog, Kiara, to get to know and trust each other, but now, they are the best of friends. What can I tell you about this sweet creature? She was underestimated by everyone that passed her by at the shelter. What was their loss, was our happiness. When we met her, she was no longer at the shelter, but being fostered by Dave. She had what we were told, was shelter syndrome. Which meant that her behavior in there, was not a true look into this amazing, sweet, gentle, caring animal. ( I suggest fostering if anyone has doubts in the shelter about a dog you may want to adopt, think about what they have been through and are going through in there, they need a chance in a home). This loving creature is so intune with us. While I had a virus, that sweet soul sat beside me all six hours of me being sick in the bathroom, never leaving my side the whole time. If we cry, she licks the tears away. If we are upset, she comes to us and sits and nuzzles the stress away. She will sit next to you for hours for belly rubs and neck scratches or will play in the yard and wiggle on her back for the euphoric grass back scratch. She came to us with impeccable house training habits. Unfortunately, she also came with some mental scars. Whoever was cruel to this gentle, loving creature has much to answer for as a human being. I love the saying that A race is judged by how they treat the weakest, this person or persons will be judged. It took Ginger a long time before we saw that oh my goodness you are home and have been gone forever waggles. She wasnt sure of her situation and was just a little sad. Her eyes are very expressive, and seem amazed when she is treated well. An eight year old boy asked me why she looked so sad. The first day I came home and saw her tail wagging was amazing. I was so happy and she got so happy because I was so happy. She had settled in and become one of the pack and that was the best day ever! I cant be thankful enough for this wonderful addition to our family. She cuddles with her furry sister and her human family, waggles and vocalizes. What was supposed to be a way to give back to an animal for Christmas, turned into a gift to ourselves. A gift that keeps giving daily through the good times and bad, with ultimate love and loyalty. There is something about an animal that just calms the spirit and soothes the soul and we have been blessed with two. There is something very special about our Ginger, though I cant quite put my finger on it now. As we grow in our bond together, I am sure she will reveal more about what a great soul she really is. Every once in a while she shows us something new about herself and I am loving and greatly enjoying every discovery. I cant thank all of you Angels enough for rescuing her, caring for her and loving her. It is very true, especially in Gingers case, that when you rescue a dog, they rescue you right back! Bless you all for what you do and thank you, thank you, thank you!
