This one of the major things I did all my life,,It is called a HOT TAP,,,,,They dig ur grave,,,,,,,,they called it,,,,,then they would clear the blast area,,,,,around your grave,,,,,,then I would go in and remove the insulation from the gas line,,,,burn the mastic from the pipes surface,,,,then buff it with the wire wheel,,,,then I would grind the Tapping Tee to fit the pipe surface,,,,,I would attach my big C shaped ground clamp to the line,,,,keep in mind they ,,,NEVER,,,,,turn the GAS OFF,,,,,so the full amount of gas pressure is still pumping against the sides of these gas lines,,,,Hence,,,,,clearing the blast area,,,I would design special welding rods I would use to weld these tapping tees on with,,,,after I would weld them,,,I would recoat the area with mastic and then tap the pipe,,,and let the gas enter the new gas line,,,,,It makes my stomach hurt,,just explaining it,,,,I was paid,,,,,for 2 hours as much as most men made in a week,,,,,,and I could do up to 10 a day,,,,My good friend Harry Moreland and myself,,,,,,did a few hundred,,,and I did them for City of Bay Springs Gas Company,,,,and for the gas plants out from Petal,,,,,The odds of you being killed doing one of these is 1 in 10,,,,,,not having anything to do with procedure,,,,its all about hitting a bad place in the pipe,,,,then ,,,,my friend,,,,YOU ARE DEAD,,,,,,and the money,,,,takes a very distant back seat,,,,Life in the Ole South,,
