This one still brings tears to my eyes & chillbumps on my arms. It is perhaps the greatest memory I have for the UT-Bama rivalry. Johnnie Jones made himself a Tennessee legend that afternoon. My Dad & I were sitting together in the end zone at Legion Field in Birmingham. What a thrill that was & something I will never forget as long as I live. With the Tennessee Volunteers Football team and the Alabama Crimson Tide tied at 34-all with 3:11 left in the game, Jones took the ball on a quick option pitch on third-and-short from his own 32-yard line & ran 68 yards to the for the clinching score. No one touched him. Alabamas defense didnt seem ready for that play call, and Jones took advantage of a well-blocked play to burst near midfield before pulling off a beautifully vicious, stop-and-start cut near midfield and racing away from the Tide secondary.
