We mustnt lose sight of the big problem with operative dentistry: nothing lasts forever and there will be a biological price to all our endeavours EVEN if we use a microscope! We need to be more critical of our colleagues who parade invasive and destructive treatment plans where there is little or no clinical need or where more minimally invasive options have not been exhausted. Just because a patient requests treatment doesnt mean we should say yes and butcher their dentition.
