This page was created in response to the loss of Robin Williams. Aside from the obvious nods to the man who made our hearts glow while his was breaking this page is not a memorial. It is dedicated to mental health awareness, advocacy, and tearing down the taboos and stigmas that keep so many from seeking help. O Captain, My Captain takes its name and its message from the Walt Whitman poem as well as Robins performance in Dead Poets society. It is a rallying call, a sign of respect, and a chance to grieve. The page is in its infancy but it will be growing. Expect inspiration, information, and dedication from us at O Captain, My Captain. Informative videos and articles will be common from our page but we hope to share the stories of individuals coming forward and speaking openly about their condition, sharing advice, and letting the rest of us know that we are not alone. I leave you with Jim Meskimen, a man well known for his impersonation of Williams and carrying on one of his most well known roles, reading a poem dedicated to the jester who we will miss. It seems fitting a dedication to Robin will kick off our pages life. It is the tribute I personally felt most connected to. Please like our page and feel free to contribute and share with us the gems you find floating around the internet. The pages success at waiting bringing mental health to the foreground depends on a strong community that helps one another. Thank you. #RobinWilliams #JimMeskimen
