This part of the coversation is conviently ignored when I bring up - TopicsExpress

This part of the coversation is conviently ignored when I bring up why we only have Canadian made (and some US) in our laundry, and why I do not like made in China diapers. I always get its the only diapers we can afford or its better than disposables. I disagree. Its about values based decisions and it not just about the cost, you have to look a bit deeper. However, I say that, and I recently had the opportunity to check out some Funky Fluff diapers (Canadian company/made in China) and I have to be honest, it was very good quality and well made diaper. They use their own designs and patents, and they are quality tested. They are not cheap by any stretch, but you get what you pay for, and they are of a much higher quality than the usual suspects. My problem is I just cant look past who is making them, and the lack of environmental standards in China in general. Its so polluted there that you can see the smog indoors collecting around the flourescent lights. I know that it is possible to manufacture in North America because of amazing companies like AMP Diapers, Bummis and Eenvoudig Simply Unique, but the profit margin is much lower. Using the ethically made label is the new angle for China manufacturers, but how can you possibly know that? For me, and my service, I choose to buy local and Canadian made. The RDA makes some excellent points that also support that decision.
