This passage (written 700 years before the birth of Jesus by a prophet) sums up what today is all about. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem. Surely he took up our pain and bore our suffering, yet we considered him punished by God, stricken by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to our own way; and the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth; he was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so he did not open his mouth. By oppression and judgment he was taken away. Yet who of his generation protested? For he was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgression of my people he was punished. He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death, though he had done no violence, nor was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it was the Lord’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer, and though the Lord makes his life an offering for sin, he will see his offspring and prolong his days, and the will of the Lord will prosper in his hand. After he has suffered, he will see the light of life and be satisfied; by his knowledge my righteous servant will justify many, and he will bear their iniquities. Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors. For those who dont believe Jesus to be the Son of God, you may have never read this passage before or maybe thought it came from the New Testament. Or maybe you heard it in a church once but didnt really think about it. Seven centuries before Jesus even walked the Earth, God was using His people to tell the world of the One who was to come. Most of us on here have only been alive for less than a quarter of one. You may be the kind of person that says Hey, I love Jesus, He was a great dude, His teachings will help me be a better person but that is not why Jesus came. He came because we can never be good enough, we will always fall short of Gods standard, and its not about what we do for God. God sent Jesus into the world to live the perfect we live we could never live and then die the death we all deserve so we dont have to. By what He did on the cross, Jesus offers to take our place so we dont have to die. Have you ever thought about why youre afraid of death and its not because youre trying to avoid something, but its because we werent meant to? But He didnt stop there... He then rose from the dead and walked the Earth proving to be exactly who He said He was. If youve read this far youre either thinking This girl is so annoying and always posts these long dumb Christian statuses or maybe you feel God right now trying to tell you how much He loves you and that these things are true, as crazy as it sounds and as weird as your church was growing up. Forget about the religion you had growing up that told you what you have to do to please God. If youre tired of feeling empty and unsatisfied and unsure about why youre here at all, look at Jesus. If you were the only one on the planet when He died, Hed still be on that cross for you.
