This past 2 years has taught me a lot. I took almost a year off doing nothing and than I took this job I have now doing manual labor with low pay out of necessity, but later learned that it is what I needed to do as a life learning lesson. I have the skills as most of you know to work in corporate america. But I was told by my older brother that I was doing a monkeys job that anyone could do. So I had to prove to myself that any job I do I can do well. So I stayed where I am working at a liquor store to prove that this is not true of me. I am better than that. Intellect is not all that is required. It is how you work (ethics) and what you do with your knowledge and how you interchange with people that is important. I know that I am goal oriented, condescending and feel that everyone should work as hard as me. I am wrong and now I can admit it. I have found that people preconceive that when you get paid low wages that you only preform at that level. Why do more for such low wages? I know now it is a matter of pride. My brother is wrong. I wasnt just doing an easy job that anyone can do. I was working a job that I knew was challenging to me and I wanted to be the best I could be. What he thinks and feels is irrelevant now. I will return to corporate and know now that my life lessons have made me (hopefully) a better man then I was in the past.
