This past 4th of July weekend, I had the rare privilege of hanging out for a little while, with my nine year old great nephew, 3G. (3d generation Gregory Talley) It was an eye opening adventure, which in the end, had the hairs on the back of my neck standing straight up, with pride! Because, the reality of what we, as a family are all about, was being radiantly reflected, through him. While I was in Indpls, we went on an errand for my cousin Denise Bunton, also from Scottsville, KY, and myself. While I went into a service station, for her. He went in also, to buy some snacks for himself. He, eventually, bought an awful lot of them! I didnt say a word though; because, it was his money! We went right on to Wally World too. At the entrance, I stopped for a moment, to speak to a brother, who was selling cable TV. Three G, looked on. Not finding what I needed there, we left. On the way out, going past the cable guy again, he, swiftly, reached way down into his pockets, and pulled out all of the loose change that he had left over from the weekend, (a pretty good sum) and put it into an aquarium, that was setup for the benefit of the children of St. Judes Hospital. For a poor kid, I thought that, that was pretty nice of him to do. It wasnt, until we got back to the house, and I saw him sharing all of his goodies, with each of his cousins, who were also still present that I, entirely, grasped and suddenly realized that, that was his plan all along. When you raise them right, even in your absence, they show their upbringing! Its true, the apple really doesnt fall too very far from the tree. Im just glad that ours has some very healthy roots, and bears good fruit! So, before he left, I gave him the few ones that I had, and told him, why and how proud I was that, he was my great nephew. He is well on his way to being the kind of person, that you want to have be in this world, and on your team! He comes by his generosity, by good example. My poor behind rewarded him, just because, it was the right thing to do as well!!!
