This past September, the U.S. Army put out a call for female soldiers to volunteer to attend Ranger School, one of the toughest training courses for which a Soldier can volunteer. The United States Army Rangers are an elite unit and the Army’s “premier direct-action raid force. The response to the call for volunteers was overwhelming. There were so many applicants they had to cull the list to just 160. Last week they announced that 60 women have been selected to attend the spring Ranger School assessment this April. The Ranger program has been historically difficult to get through. On average, only 45 percent of Ranger School students graduate. Sixty percent of all failures happen during the first four days, with many failing the physical fitness test the first day. Were rooting for each of these brave and selfless women!
