This past Tuesday, my husband and I, escorted by our friend and fellow HBGRR volunteer, Carla McCreary, had the opportunity to pay a visit to Hollys Hill Vineyards in Placerville where we had the pleasure of a reunion with the winerys resident golden greeter, Drake. Winemakers Josh & Carrie Bendick were clients of Carlas in 2007/2008, and were looking for a golden companion to complete their family. Drake, along with his brother (known back then as Toby Keith & Vince Gill), were owner relinquished to me in Redding at 5 months of age, the last 2 pups from a litter of 12 that the breeder (I use the term very loosely in this case) was not able to sell. While Drakes brother was adopted by one of my Redding clients, and now lives in Mt. Shasta, Drake made his way to the ranch and shortly thereafter, was adopted by the Bendick family in 2008. Drake recently celebrated his 6th birthday! Drake is very bonded to his family, and seems particularly attached to Josh, for whom Drake waits to return to the tasting room in this photo!
