This past spring and summer, we spent a couple weeks driving through midwestern farmland. It was sad to see those farms where every last inch--all the way out to the road and in the middle of gullies--was planted with the crop. The ditches and gullies are hard to get at for equipment and erode instead of providing crops--but the current deal is that they get planted too. This is a much better way.
