This past summer seems like a dream. So I am glad when I see pics like this. I actually wheeled that wheelchair into those mountains behind me. I was as intent then as I am now on protecting that land behind me in that pic. It is not the current mountain of attention in the environmental movement... but this is where we ought to be. Take a look at a map of pollution and spills - that land behind me in this pic and the land to the North and West of it are untouched. They just ran a power line up there to make sure that that is not the case for long. This spot is one of a handful left on the globe. When people see me saying we need to be more strategic, it is not to try to gain glory, it is to be more strategic. Couldnt be that simple, could it? I wheeled that wheelchair down that road for months. Many people pulled over in the middle of nowhere to see what this nutty guy was doing all by himself in the middle of the forrest. I was trying to gain attention to paradise almost lost. Some people wanted my help. Some people appreciated my support. Others were against me saying what I saw out there. Well, I filmed it all. And, I am heading out again. My Mum is sick. But, the minute she is not sick any longer, I will be uncaged. If I had that smile wheeling into those mountains, then what do you think I have planned next? This is not for glory. It is not for a mountain. It is for the animal, lake, and river friends I bonded with for almost four months on that road. It is for the Costa Rican sea turtles swimming in the middle of Atlantic right now because I saved their lives while they were still in shells. Those turtles had no idea how close they came to being sold as eggs over some counter in a market. This is for my second family along the Gulf of Mexico with benzene and hexane in all their blood still all these years after the spill - oil still washing ashore with mutated marine life. I do this so that I can look myself in the mirror. And I have only just begun. :) Thanks for pulling over, Jonny.
