This past valentines day I was driving up Cropsey in Coney - TopicsExpress

This past valentines day I was driving up Cropsey in Coney Island…there was a young homeless girl with dreadlocks begging for money. Everyone drove past her like she was invisible. Something about her struck me with emotion. I pulled over and gave her 20 bucks, told her she was beautiful and wished her a Happy Valentines Day…she smiled back at me holding back tears. Back in my college days when I volunteered with an organization that drove around feeding homeless people in the middle of the night…the one thing they taught me was when it came to homeless people they are more lonely than anything else because they become invisible to us regular folk. So conversation and being noticed means all the world to them. I came across this video tonight about squatters in Brooklyn…and here she is…the little dreadlock girl in the video…now she has a name…Bailey. I hope one day shes no longer invisible…I hope one day she finds her way. i hope one day she believes that she really is beautiful.
