This past week Phil Jackson, thirteen time NBA Championship Coach - TopicsExpress

This past week Phil Jackson, thirteen time NBA Championship Coach and Player, signed to be the new president of the legendary basketball organization of the New York Knicks. Jackson has eleven as a coach and two as a player with the Knicks. Jackson has been asked by many teams to come coach since his retiring of the Lakers Head Coaching position in 2010. The Knicks brought in Jackson in hopes to keep their elite score Carmelo Anthony. The Knicks are hoping that Jackson being in charge of most moves will keep Anthony in New York so they can hopefully build a championship winning team around him. Carmelo had a made a decision earlier in the year to test out free agency after this season but with Jackson in the organization now his decision might change. One of the issues that could happen with Jackson coming in is that current owner James Dolan, likes to have complete control of all the decisions that go on throughout the organization, but with Jackson being someone people would want to come play for Dolan needs to stay out the way and let Jackson do his job. He knows a lot more than Dolan. This hiring couldn’t have come at a better time for New York with them being 13 wins below .500 and in ninth place in the eastern conference they need a change that will hopefully make a huge difference in the outcome of there season. Even though they wont be able make any major free agent moves besides resigning Anthony if he comes back I think the move of hiring Jackson was a great one for the team. I believe that after a few years Jackson will turn the Knicks into a championship contender in the Eastern Conference.
