This past week has been very eventful, touring Christopher Newport was definately a way of opening our eyes up to the many opportunities and changes that we are about to face. As a parent that college is definately all I could ever hope for Hayley and much much more. We sat down and had a heart to heart talk afterward and to reflect on ourselves as a family and think about. Our strengths and weeknesses and the parts that have been most beneficial to get us where we are now and marvelled over what needs to be done overall as a family and idividually for not just Hayley to be succesful in the future with the life and changes she is about to embark on, but also what its going to take for Scottie to become a strong independant person capable of taking on new challenges and learning to make small life decisisions that will affect her and the possibly mold her into the person she desires to be. As a family we have struggled and had many challenges that set us back, but the one thing we have never done was lower our expectations educationwise, nor have we strayed from the higher power knowing the good Lord is going to take us and use us where he sees fit. I had some reflecting time alone as well and have done some thinking on what I can do as a parent to help the girls want to have more positive thoughts and to be more positive about thier actions toward one another and other people around them and how to do so without allowing themselves to fall prey to people with evil intentions. I have always felt it was important to keep in touch with loved ones near and far and still feel this is true, but have also found Sometimes the time of solitude and turning my phone off or laying it aside, going and spending time in places without phone and internet service allows one alot more time to reflect on whats reallly important in life. I intend to do this alot more as the days go by..... and my hopes are the girls will do the same to an extent.
