This past weekend I traveled to Aurora, Illinois to help my son - TopicsExpress

This past weekend I traveled to Aurora, Illinois to help my son pack up his room in preparation for a move to California – planned for the first part of August. Having to leave his current position of 5 years and head half-way across the country for a new beginning of which he, at this point, is not clear has gotten me to thinking. As a parent, there is part of me wanting to say, “Are you sure you want to do this not having a position?” But there is another part of me that is reminded of our needing to put our trust in God’s plans for our lives and, in faith, step out! I know it in my heart and soul, but the earthly part of me has reservations. Isn’t that the struggle we face every day of our lives and why we need God?! We have our spiritual side which knows God is in charge and going ahead of us to God’s known plan for our lives and trusting in the Holy Spirit to inspire/instruct and bring us to those moments of choice. On the other hand is our human side which wants to “know before we go,” that had “doubt about the route” God has for us! As we face daily the duality of “trust-vs.-knowing,” “faith-vs.-fact,” “belief-vs.-doubt,” we, as followers of God, as disciples of Jesus the Christ, often are reminded when we see others step out in faith. I thank my son, and assure him I will be there for him as he shows me God’s call in action! -Pastor Chuck
