This perhaps is the most significant development of this century so far and has the potential to reshape the geopolitical map of the world. The rise of alternative fuels and the shift away from fossil fuels will over a period of time see much reduced involvement of western nations in West Asia; the epicentre of global terrorism. For countries like India this is a fantastic period to use our abundant sunshine and huge coastline to tap into solar or wind energy. At the same time the drop in oil prices will lead to lower inflation. The availability of cheap alternate energy will also need us to relook at industry as we have make things capable of using these new sources of energies. This would be a huge opportunity but at the same time make a lot of the existing industries redundant and with it some skills as well.
