This photo was given to me by Billy Thornton, it is of his fathers tow truck, he had Thornton Towing located in Truckee, Calif. Not sure when he started the tow company but I remember it as a kid. They worked old Highway 40 over Donner Summit way before I-80 was opened in 1960 for the Squaw Valley Winter Olympics. Here he is pulling a Garbaldi cow truck out of a snow bank. I like how he has it chained up. This truck helped many a trucker on Donner Summit for many years. I was very happy when Billy gave it to me.
