This photo was taken of the wedding of my great great grandparents Clerke Burton Scholtz and Emily Eliza Watson in Peddie on October 14 1872. Emily was the grand daughter of two 1820 settlers George Watson ( Hayhursts Party ) and John King ( Hymans Party ) It has been rather challenging researching both these families as there were more than one Watson and King families that were part of the 1820 settler parties and the names are all so similar that they keep getting mixed up. I have 3 questions to ask please: 1: I was wondering if anybody else on this list might share these ancestors or know more information about them ( I have managed to get most of their baptism records from familysearch.org ) 2: I found Clerke and Emilys marriage details from an internet post Nolene transcribed of the Methodist Parish Records Peddie Marriages1841-1892 ( thank you Nolene Lossau Sproat ) but how do I go about getting a copy of the marriage certificate? Who do I contact ? 3: Any ideas on why Clerke , who was born in the Cape and listed as a general digger of du Toits Pan would be in the Peddie area in the 1870s? Any help would be so greatly appreciated :)
