This photograph was taken at the opening of the Queen Alexandra - TopicsExpress

This photograph was taken at the opening of the Queen Alexandra Bridge in 1909. The man in the straw boater hat was my grandfather, James Miller, foreman plater with Sir William Arrol & Co. His next project with Arrol was the Tees Transporter Bridge, 1909-1911. He later worked on the Tyne Bridge. Also in the photograph are William Arrol himself, and the Third Earl of Durham, who formally opened the bridge. While James worked on the QAB, the Miller family lived at 111 Broadsheath Terrace. My mother was born at that address. I would be very grateful to have newspaper coverage of the bridge construction and opening. Also, my mothers three sisters attended the Central Council School from 1907 to 1909 -- does anyone have school photographs taken during that period? Any other relevant information will be most gratefully received. In the meantime, Christmas and New Year greetings to all in Southwick from this exiled Scot now living in Ithaca, New York.
