This picture taken about 1/3 way down from Khardung La (5359m) top, the zig-zag end at the South Pulu, which is just a military post & Inner Line Permit checkpoint. From South Pulu to the top of Khardung La is about 15km of super rough road. if you go downhill, it will take about 2 hours for this 15km, of course you can go faster, provided you balls is big enough :D if you going up......hehe~ I never finished the whole stretch, in fact, I never managed to make it to South Pulu from the bottom :( The local bike shop guys said it generally gonna take about 8~10 hours up & 4 hours down on a naked bike. If you going up, road gradient is not too steep, but the lack of oxygen (about 45% of sea level) that drag you down. On the other side, theres another 15km of rough road down to North Pulu before connect back to asphalt road on the Nubra valley side. Pretty similar terrain & road surface, but on northern side the view is more gorgeous, more grand :)
