This picture was taken early this morning as Officer Courtney, who is of course, still a CISD Police Officer, was transferred over to the Truancy Officer position. Just the opening another door in his career! While we have a pretty good attendance record here at Cleveland ISD, there is, as in anything, room for improvement. I have absolutely no doubt that Officer Courtney will be an asset in this new assignment. I have no doubt Officer Courtney will be in a position to really help those students and their families who are at risk of having problems with the State of Texas School Attendance Laws. Officer Courtney will continue helping at games and other activities throughout the District, including our Police Explorer Post. This program has been extremely successful in reaching out to some of our High School students who are interested in a career in Public Service / First Responder. Congratulations to Officer Bill Courtney on his new assignment!!! (in one of the two pictures shown, he actually appears to be smiling.... but in which one???)
