This picture was taken some 30 /40 years ago in front of the well known ‘Hotel des Indes in The Hague. It was en vogue in those times to offer the horses an exclusive breakfast with carrots, apples and grass before they had to do their duties. Four riders from the Portuguese Classical School did visit The Hague in the Netherlands and performed their equestrian skills and art. The long travel from Lisbon to the Netherlands with the Lusitano horses and their perfect performances were highly appricated by the Dutch public. In the foreground you see Dom José Athayde, who was there with Dr. Guilherme Borba and Dom Diego de Bragança, the best students of Maestro Nuno Oliveira. The second person visible in this picture is the well-known rider Sr. Francisco Cancella de Abreu.
