This poem is called: En Mi Barrio En mi Barrio Seen some crazy shit Madresitas selling nalgas For the next fix Out-land strangers Get their throats slit Balas scream and explode Awaken the silence of night Hear the words with the morning light Of which little homie Crossed the final and lonesome line En mi Barrio Pharmacist of the calle Sell their produced mind prison To their young primos, the poison they share Who cares about their welfare? Its all about making that paper Get them hooked young Get them hooked early Steal their dreams and take their money Possess their minds until they O.D Blanca y negra rule these streets En mi Barrio A veterano, an older homie Took his own life, committed suicide Just right outside! Five feet from my fence line Tired of living the life he was living Gripped his pistola from where it was hidden Pointed it to his head, pressed it against brown skin Hear the firearm sound and spit On the pavement his body runs dead Lost dreams run slowly in nuestra valle En mi Barrio Seen great acts of humanity and valor Neighbors giving to neighbors without any favor Seen mi jente rise and stand and fight To win back their streets from the blind As it was said Get rid of the crackheads! Seen young lovers begin their life anew Always together, today and forever Heard the heart of my barrio Speak of honor, hope and peace Through these calles love runs rampant with ease En mi Barrio Saw that I must speak and use my mind Realized how to stand and fight Learned how to live and survive Struggled with visions of my own demise Shown that for my family I must provide Found out my heart lies in a pair of brown eyes Removed the fear and trust in lies Released my heart to the movement of time Stumbled across passion and saw love shine My blood is like rushing water through these alleys of peace and pain En mi Barrio -Marcial Delgado-
