This poem was written just a couple of hours after the birth of my granddaughter, Arabella, November 16th 2012.I was honored to be present, and I look forward to the birth of my newest grandchild early next year.[ edit poem ] A New Beginning The newborn babe sleeps, adrift aloft clouds of gossamer dreams, unaware of petty strife, of ugly minds, of bad intent. Her parents hover nearby mindful of this mortal angel vigilant guardians; ever present, forever bound The world at war awaits outside eager to deliver up its meal of famine, fear, despair and pain. Two people ready to die to trade their live for hers to keep her safe for all of time. Three people, bound by love and duty and wonder and joy together always, for the rest of their lives. ................................................................................................... Author Notes I know the prompt sort of leads one in a melancholy direction, but i was thinking about the value of life and i cannot think of anything that speaks more about that than the birth of my granddaughter twelve days ago...i watched as she came into this realm...and, well, here it is... © dawn michelle dillon .
