This post and all of the messages of support we have received in the past 48 hours goes to show just how much Emirates Team New Zealand truly is a team of 4 million people. We are looking forward to coming home. Five things WE know to be true 1. WE are a nation of believers. Right up until the boats crossed the finish line for the final time we never gave up believing that our boys could win. And while they may not have won the Cup, they won our hearts and minds by showing the world what true leadership and sportsmanship look like. 2. WE love a battle. We leaned with Dean, Ray, Grant and the team and made sure in this David and Goliath battle that our guys knew which side we were cheering on. 3. WE are small but mighty. Our team may not have had the biggest budget but they had heart, determination, pride and courage in spades. And when the going got tough we, as a country, didn’t take our red socks off, we simply pulled them up! 4. WE are passionate supporters of our team. From the Kiwis who jumped on a plane bound for San Fran, to those who turned out everyday at Shed 10 and venues around the country in their red socks, to the thousands of Kiwis crowded around TV screens in offices, bars, clubs and schools, we are a fiercely passionate nation who can mobilise to support our team when it counts. 5. WE are Team New Zealand. We are a four million strong army of staunchly proud Kiwis and we always will be.
