**This post has been collected from a group where this was posted earlier** Desperately Seeking ( OLD HOME/ Concern ) On last Friday after Jummah on my way to a dawat , I found this “90-95 years” really old lady on the bare street dumped/thrown away to “die” by her family. I saw her lying there unattended in the scorching sun, observed her from a distance to find myself surprised that no one came along to help.. No body even bothered to stop by. She was absolutely dehydrated, had blurring vision, no ability walk and talk and even to sit, had chronic diarrhea . She could only manage a small water bottle only to quench her thirst. And yes, she is not a beggar. She was almost lifeless (barely moving) as she was lying there from almost fazar time with no food at all …. she was brought to the dumping place by a cng(as per spectator) left alone to die. It was also confirmed that she was dumped by the Husband of her Grand-daughter (Natir jamai)- the only family who are alive, with no traces of him at all. At first, I bought a juice for her as she needs sugar for the time being. When I gave the juice to her she gave me a look which I will never forget in my life. Tears rolled out from her eyes silently while she had the juice straw on her mouth- which I was holding. . It was her life saver. I asked her name, she already was too fragile to cooperate me with info. The only info she was able process that no-one is coming to take her back. All she was concerned that what would she do if it rains. That is the very moment when I decided whatever happens, she will be taken care of - irrespective of d context. We immediately informed the local police (OC Khalek) about the situation. They took time to come to the spot and took our information for the reference. Then we took her to DMC’s (Dhaka Medical College) emergency in my car with the local help (Sunil da and Prottoy- cant thank you guys enough). She was given few medicines, IV Cholera saline and some injections. By the grace of god she is getting better day-by-day. We have fixed “aya”/nurse on daily basis to take care of her “day and night” at the hospital premises. We all go there and stay as much as possible time to time. Now, its high time to rehabilitate her. She needs to be taken care of properly as she is very very old. She will definitely need a helping hand 24/7 with her toilet, food, movement etc. We tried to reach all the “old home” in my reach for last two days. (failed so far and that’s why I posted it to DSD) 1. Old home by Givencee group (biggest 1, she is too old for them) 2. Quantum Briddhasrom (Distance is too much) 3. Probin Hitoishi Songho (Complicated process for unknown family) And few more. The harsh truth about Bangladesh’s old home is, if any elderly people want to have admission in any old home, he/she needs to walk by themselves, have food by their own and to do the toilet without help. What an IRONY !!! We told them – what is the point of having a old home if the elder can do all of these??? They just told us its their rule…. I tried to push, nothing happened. You guys may come here to see her in person. She will love it. Guys, its so easier to take no responsibility. We all are so self obsessed about us (including me as well). Sometimes we can just “Look Up” from our way of life and look around us. She is not the only one. There are so many instances like this one. Every one is not a beggar. Current Location of her : Dhaka Medical Building 2 (new 1 behind emergency building) Ward : 801 (lift 7) , at the west veranda- just beside the emergency door. My Number is : 0176171 0000 / 01979 660000 *** Trust me, when she smiles with her 2 teeth with all the blessings, its priceless**
