This post is not meant to place blame on anyone, just to remind anyone that may read this of the dangers that pedestrians face. We have lost too many pedestrians in recent months. I count 4 in Camdens immediate area in the last year (probably more). I lost my father in 2003 when he was hit by a car and one of my childhood best friends lost his sister in October after being hit by a truck. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, 1. If you are going to walk on the side of the road, wear bright colored clothing. It doesnt matter if its 12:00 noon with the sun high in the sky (which is how my Dad died), you need to wear something bright, lime green, bright orange, pink....anything that will increase your chances of being seen. 2. Wear something reflective at night. 3. Always walk against traffic so you can see any potential danger coming at you, if you walk with traffic you cant see the car behind you drifting into the shoulder youre walking on. 4. Never use headphones to listen to your music while walking or running near traffic. 5. Always look over your shoulder and keep your eyes moving. Too many pedestrian deaths could have been avoided by doing these simple things. Again, I am not defending the drivers of these horrible accidents (we need to be vigilant drivers too) or placing blame on any person walking down the road. In summary; drive safe and walk safer.
