This post is to clarify the story on CRBC today regarding the #2,500 tax issue reported by Watt Market women. Calabar South LGC has not in anyway asked market women/men to pay such amount to them for any reason. The said amount is to be paid to Cross River State Internal Revenue (State) not Calabar South Local Government Council. A representing body of Watt Market Traders Association visited the Executive Chairman, Calabar South Local Government Area; Rt Hon (Chief) Mrs Majorie Eyo Asuquo (JP) on the 12th of September, 2014 regarding the said #2,500 because they thought the amount was levied on them from the Council. The Chairman, Her Executive & Legislative Council etc know nothing about this taxation please. News carriers be guided!
