This post will only appeal to a few people.......Just watched Castles in the Sky the story of the pioneering work of Robert Watson Watt and his team of TRE men in the development of Radar and its place in the victory of the air war especially in the Battle of Britain........It only re-enforces my opinion that Professor Lindermann was a greater force for defeat than victory.......R.V Jones was far too polite to express an outright opinion but reading between the lines it is only too clear where his thoughts lie.......Henry Tizzard and Watson Watt made the system work.....The Tizzie angle alone made the system of triagulating the information to a quick fix that Fighter aircraft could be sent along to intercept enemy aircraft greatly simplified the job of local controllers massively.....The communications system that linked the Radar systems to Group and sector control ARP and The Observer Corps was worked out by Tizzard and Watt and many others in spite of interference by Lindermann who had Churchills ear ......I agree with historian Leonard Moseley who stated that if Churchill was the Prime Minister before the War Lindermann would have quashed Watson Watts radar project and made sure that his pipe dreams of a defense of a lacework of balloons trailing wires etc etc would have been pushed to the fore to the detriment of the defense of Great Briton........Lindermann made sure that Tizzard was denigrated and kept the ear of Churchill throughout the war....Much to our disadvantage........Many great men who gave of their scientific best were sold short and cast out in the wilderness due to Lindermann ......Thoughts Martin Davis Theo Claassen Nigel Watson
