This pretty little lady is Xanthe, born last Friday the 16th January :) After attending a term of Daisy classes in Lymm, Hannah and her husband Rob managed to just about squeeze in a Couples Workshop at home on their (Estimated) due date. Im so pleased for you all, it sounds like the care you received from your One2One Midwife was wonderful. Well done Rob for getting stuck in too, the support of a knowledgeable birth partner during such a momentous occasion makes a huge difference! Making the decision to move to hospital to be on the safe side obviously kept that Oxytocin flowing for you. Its great that you still had a say in what happened once there - you did it, shes here!! Congratulations again, I hope youre recovering well and getting settled into family life xx Thought Id let you know that Rob and I welcomed our baby girl Xanthe into the world last Friday 16th Jan. Were so happy, she is a beauty! Very quickly... the plan for a home birth was going very well. Rob and Karyn were an amazing support. Rob set up the pool, candles, oil burning, snacks and drinks at the ready. He made such an effort to implement the techniques youd taught us and I was so glad we did the couples course only a few days before!! He was a star! I started in labour around 9am and was in established labour at 6pm. All was calm, my waters broke at 11pm and unfortunately Karyn noticed some meconium. She explained that it looked old and wouldnt be a problem but it was up to us. At this point I was 8cm dilated so close! We decided to go to hospital. I was disappointed with some of my experience in the hospital. Theyre very keen on time scales, testing, examining, telling me to purple push and offering all sorts. We put up a few fights and moments away from the ventouse being used, at 2am, I managed to have an unassisted birth, with no pain relief, delayed clamping, a physiological 3rd stage and most importantly a healthy baby! Smiling face with open mouth and smiling eyes Please feel free to share the story. Just to say a massive thank you Lisa. There is no doubt that the classes made it the best experience I could of had. It is amazing what you can do if you have the right tools and belief. Hannah, Rob & Xanthe
