This project was launched by Brother Eduardo V. Manalo, the Executive Minister of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, in Tondo, Manila, Philippines, last April 13, 2013. In his pastoral letter, he stated: “It is important that we inform our own countrymen that the Church Of Christ has the true brotherhood.” He likewise urged the brethren to further propagate the faith and share the message of salvation to all humanity, especially to their countrymen. Through the Felix Y. Manalo Foundation, thousands of indigents were given aid, such as food, clothing, and medical and dental services. After this initial activity, the project is now held regularly in different parts of the world. Members of the Iglesia Ni Cristo volunteer their precious time and effort in extending help to people regardless of their religious affiliation, in compliance with the biblical mandate “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:39 NIV). Apostle Paul taught, “Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith” (Galatians 6:10 NLT). In addition to providing humanitarian aid, the Iglesia Ni Cristo also holds its “Evangelical Mission.” This is an activity in which the word of God is being shared with non-members who attend the event. Recognizing the stark reality that the material food that is being given is simply a temporary aid to alleviate the needs of the poor, the Church realizes the greater need for them to receive the spiritual food which is the word of God. The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught, “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4 NIV). He likewise taught, “Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life” (John 6:27 NIV). In line with this biblical truth, the word of God – which is the spiritual food – is also being proclaimed during the time that the material food is being provided. This website serves as a resource for all who are interested in learning about this humanitarian project of the Iglesia Ni Cristo. Here you can read testimonies from various publications about past KABAYAN KO, KAPATID KO activities. Photo galleries, as well as video clips, of these can also be found on this site.
