This reading about satyagraha reminds me of an essay I read by deep ecologist Arne Naess. He references Kants distinction between a moral act (one you have to do, are obliged to do, despite your own inclinations) and a beautiful act (one that is both the moral act and your own inclination!). Naess was saying that we need to make environmentalism not a moral act, but a beautiful act! This sounds like the same idea! The Garrison Institute article seems to says we need to act and know based on the moral truth, but I still think they are saying the same thing, that it has to come from within.
